Phoenix Roadrunners Return
The quoted ticket prices are ridiculous, in my view, however. Really, the prices are greater than what I paid for my NHL Coyotes season tickets for three seasons. The same seats I originally purchased for $18 a seat (which raised to $20 in the last year at AWA), are going for $17.50 — for ECHL hockey mind you! That simply is an outrage, and these tickets are way overpriced for the level of play.
I was reminded that after the Phoenix Mustangs went defunct, the rink was ripped apart at Veterans Memorial Coliseum and the parts scattered, much of it to Tower Ice. It saddened me greatly, as the Icehouse on McDowell was a great place to watch hockey, with not a bad seat in the barn. And the prices for tickets and beer were most affordable. Fondly, I recall the crew that sat atop of the opposing goalie and did their best, powered by alcohol, to taunt the enemy netminder, as they all dressed in their comical garb, a tradition that failed to be brought over to Coyotes games.
