Game #7 Report: Vineyard 10, Roadrunners 2

Total domination was exercised by the Crusaders in a 10-2 romp over a shell shocked Roadrunner squad. The two Roadrunner goals came late in the game, and if it were not for a couple of missed goal calls, the mercy rule would have been imposed quite a while before the opposition put their first one in. Whether it was defense, passing, offense, getting to loose pucks, clearing rebounds, etc., the Crusader squad was up to challenge this Sunday afternoon. And it was great to have eight skaters, two four man lines to swap shifts.

The goal scoring breakdown resembled a bowling pin setup, as Matt got four, Colin put in three, Chris tallied twice, and Don wristed one in. Assists were plentiful, as Vineyard engaged in a good bit of tic tac toe passing, and moved the puck around beautifully and effectively. Only downer was not securing a shutout for goalie Russel.

Vineyard now sits at 3-4 W-L record, with three tough rematch games remaining, the first with Team A.M. next week, followed by the Road Warriors and Phunk Junkies. And on a final note — when I bring a cooler full of gatorade for post game refreshment time, we are 3-0 this season. I won't forget to replenish the cooler for next week, for certain…
