R2005F Week 4: Cluster Pucks 9, Reapers 2
Reapers turn in a gutsy performance but were outgunned and outmanned by a Cluster Puck squad that wore down the Reapers and their very short bench. Due to Scott E. suspension, Steve S. car accident injury, and others who've flaked off the roster, Reapers went with only five skaters on this hockey Sunday. Were it not for new Reaper skater Dave, we would have had no substitute skaters at all.
Landing on the Reaper scoresheet were Scott S. and GT, who scored his first league goal at Rollerplex.
An 0-4 start is disheartening, but I'm proud of my teammates who've hung in and hustled hard despite the adversity facing the team. Thanks all, I think we'll turn the corner and thrive once again. Already, I believe strongly we can compete with any of the teams in the league.

I was proud of our effort last Sunday - nobody quit even though we were down, and shorthanded… …everybody hustled, we keep it up, and add another skater or two to get a bench, we're going to win.
We do need to shoot but also follow up our shots. Putting it on net is good, but if nobody crashes the net, it's all for not unless the original shot is a blistering one, or a somebody is in front screening the goalie.
I can't fault anyone on the squad when we only have 4 or 5 skaters available except to repeat that in such circumstances it is even more essential to play positional, stay in our box, or diamond and handle your zone and work with your partner (fellow D-man or fellow forward).
Or maybe we need to switch to a diamond - keep me as the D back with 2 wings and a center - wings need to be cognizant of where I (or whoever takes my slot on shift rest) am and if I am left, then RW collapes, and if I am right, then LW collapses. C ALWAYS covers point and is ready to break on a dime for transition pass (or dump out).
Just an idea, to conserve energy - we don't have a full change for forwards now which makes it incredibly tough for forwards to skate hard entire game, like they should be doing. But if we play a box, let's execute it better.
