R2005FW Week 5: Chilly Bombers 5, The Red Team 4 (SO)

Chilly Bombers emerge victorious in a hard fought affair, a contest that had to be settled in overtime, due to a 3-3 tie in regulation. Chilly Bombers tallied twice in the shootout, while goalie Jim stopped three of four opposing Red Team shooters. Ron and Scott S. come up big on their opportunity, and goalie Jim played magnificently.

Even with a shortened bench — it seems that the original Chilly Bombers all boycott the game if one of their own is suspended — we stayed focused and played solid defense for the duration. A judicious timeout in the third period also was vital to Chilly Bomber success.

Surprisingly, unlike pro hockey, shootout scoring is reflected in the official game statistics.

From the Wednesday league stats:

Trifanoff 2 points
Metcalf 1 point

A stay at home defenseman has a higher offensive output mark than a forward… …hmm, I'll not say anymore other than we'll see what performance output is next Wednesday night.

1. Dude, you started this with your "pad your stats" crack…

2. It would be real hockey to me even if I was playing deck hockey without skates. And it's a lot cheaper and closer to home (at least in AZ)…

3. Again, I stand by my statement that I'll let Wednesday night do the talking for me… …but you know full well that I am not playing at the same level I was a year ago or even six months ago… …I'm skating 3-4 times a week and while I'll never be Bobby Orr or Chris Pronger, I hope to keep improving each season…

4. We all have stuff going on in our lives, missing a game or two is one thing, but you can't expect folks not to be miffed when you "cut out" or have a change in heart, which seems like to happen with you every time we see you.

5. I still love you as if you were one of my own and wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors!
