Update Frequency or Lack Thereof

Behind on the game updates… …been extremely ill with some crazy respiratory infection that I've been slow to shake. I intend on suiting up tomorrow, still.

As for the web site, I have secured a new domain and will be building there as soon as I can muster some software to deploy — it's going to serve not just as our team site (Vineyard/Phantoms hockey travails), but as a roller hockey resource for the entire state. Thus, it will be titled azhow.net (AZ Hockey On Wheels).

Pretty sweet, except for the "ROSANDIC" goalie jersey I'm going to have to figure out how to remove the name off the back…

R2005FW Playoffs Championship: Piranha 7, Chilly Bombers 4

A most disappointing conclusion to the 2005 Fall Rollerplex Wednesday league Chilly Bomber campaign. Despite the luxury of a well stocked bench, Bombers sputter and go down to the Piranha. Defensive breakdowns, offensive ineptitute, and lack of team unity doomed our effort.

Finally, our team is forking — we'll need to add our new skaters from Sunday night league to compensate for the lost skaters or request new team members from Mike and the Rollerplex staff before 12/21.

R2005WS Week 1: Captain Spaulding Fried Chicken 4, Phantoms 3

A 2-2 tie in regulation was settled by a shootout, and the final score result ended with a 4-3 loss. Phantoms were unable to pad a 2-1 lead, and thus the opposing squad was able to force a tie.

New skaters Travis and C.Mundus made their debut, and are promising additions to our club.

After a week off, Phantoms resume play against the Cluster Pucks in the late time slot on Sunday 12/18.

Win by forfeiture.

But we were able to skate for the game duration, as the opposing squad added some substitute skaters so we could play a game. A game that wasn't taken seriously, as no score was kept (or shall I say accurately kept) and one of the referrees suited up for the enemy side.

Still, we'll take the 'W' and move on to the championship game next week vs. the Piranha.

R2005FW Week 10: Chilly Bombers 4, Thursday Morning Glow 3

Chilly Bombers feature the Don & Ron show and jump out to a commanding 4-1 lead, then hold off Thursday Morning Glow offensive in the third period for a big victory. Also, a superb performance by Goalie Jim, who stymied the enemy shooters, except for a fluke goal and one that one of our own defenseman (J.) deflected in.

With a win in the season finale, the Chilly Bombers elude the division basement and are slated to square off against the Snipers in the opening round of the playoffs. The Snipers have frosted the Chilly Bombers in two previous meetings, by scores of 5-0 and 8-2 in the most recent contest. But it is a new season, and I am confident we will make the necessary adjustments and emerge victorious Wednesday night.

Another note on the concluded season — two of our wins came against top division teams, so although we finished below the .500 mark, we still sported a competitive squad.
